Different Technology for Different Needs

Patient education is an important aspect of the patient experience we’ve created at Danville Optometric Group. Dr. Tom and the rest of the team are more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the technology we use during your appointment.

Whether you need a regular eye exam or more thorough testing for eye diseases and other conditions, we can help.

Our Imaging Technology

We use our imaging technology to provide detailed, high-resolution views of the structures within your eyes. Our innovative tools, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) and ultra-widefield retinal imaging, allow us to detect and monitor conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy with unmatched precision.

By using these technologies, we can offer thorough examinations and proactive care tailored to your unique visual health needs.

With the OCT 500 from Essilor, we can take an image of your entire retina within seconds. Assessing retinal health is crucial to detecting eye diseases such as:

The Humphrey visual field analyzer determines the quality of your visual field, particularly your peripheral vision. Its technology is an essential component of glaucoma diagnosis and treatment. It also helps us diagnose retinal diseases like macular degeneration by providing signals of retinal damage.

Fundus photography can help us determine the health of your retina. Its camera helps provide us with color images of the back interior structures of your eye, such as the optic nerve, central retina and peripheral retina tissue.

Our fundus camera technology also lets us photograph the retina under dilated and non-dilated conditions, which we can then upload to our electronic medical record system for more accurate diagnosis.

This device photographs the front segments of the eye, including the:

  • Cornea
  • Eyelids
  • Conjunctiva

We use this camera alongside out retinal imaging technology to help get a complete picture of your eye health. The device is also continually updated, making images increasingly accurate.

Our Diagnostic Technology

Our diagnostic technology reinforces our commitment to comprehensive eye care. Using innovative tools like corneal topography and tonometry, we can accurately assess your eye health and diagnose various conditions, including keratoconus and optic nerve diseases.

Our diagnostic capabilities enable us to help develop personalized treatment plans that effectively address your specific concerns so you can receive the highest standard of care.

The SightChek Digital Phoropter allows our team to measure your prescription with precision and efficiency. This digital system provides fast, accurate assessments for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism while streamlining the eye exam process.

By combining technology with professional expertise, the SightChek helps ensure your vision correction is tailored to your unique needs and delivers a comfortable, modern testing experience.

The Antares One Meibography uses infrared imaging to assess the health and function of the meibomian glands, which are crucial for tear production and ocular comfort. This diagnostic tool offers a detailed visualization of gland morphology, aiding in the detection and classification of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).

By providing dynamic, noninvasive tear break-up time (NIBUT) imaging and comprehensive tear film analysis, the Antares One supports personalized treatment plans for dry eye disease.

With autokeratometry and auto refraction, we can accurately measure the curvature of the cornea. These measurements are essential for diagnosing conditions like myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

The Essilor ALM700 Lensometer helps us measure your current lens prescription and maintain an accurate optical lens history. With this information, we can adjust your prescription as needed to provide you with clear vision.

The Essilor Eye-Ruler 2 is a compact, iPad-based digital measuring device designed to capture precise fitting parameters for personalized lenses.

Using 3D reconstruction technology and Bluetooth connectivity, it provides fast and accurate measurements, including pupillary distance, fitting height, wrap angle, pantoscopic tilt, and vertex distance in under one minute.

The device also includes a frame comparison module, allowing patients to visualize and select their preferred frame styles. With its intuitive interface and seamless integration, the Eye-Ruler 2 improves the lens fitting process and enhances patient satisfaction.

The Antares Corneal Topographer captures highly detailed maps of the cornea, allowing our team to assess its shape, curvature, and overall health.

This technology is particularly valuable for customizing contact lenses, including ortho-k lenses for myopia management, and for identifying irregularities that may affect vision.

By providing precise, digital corneal measurements, the Antares Topographer supports accurate, personalized treatment planning and helps maintain long-term eye health.

The ZEISS Automated Non-contact Tonometer helps us measure intraocular pressure without ever coming into contact with the corneal tissue. We perform this test on all patients, which helps us diagnose eye diseases like glaucoma.

The ZEISS optical biometer can accurately measure the eye’s axial length, which is crucial for diagnosing and managing myopia. Its technology can also assist with making precise calculations for creating the intraocular lens—crucial for successful cataract surgeries.

Our Dry Eye & Aesthetic Technology

We offer a variety of dry eye and aesthetic technology to enhance both your eye comfort and appearance. Our treatments for dry eye disease, combined with aesthetic solutions for eye rejuvenation, are designed to work together to promote healthy vision and a refreshed look.

Whether you’re seeking relief from dry eye symptoms or looking to enhance your facial aesthetics, our team is here to help provide solutuons tailored to your individual needs.

OptiLIGHT by Lumenis is a light-based, noninvasive treatment done in the area below the eyes to manage dry eye. The first and only IPL FDA-approved for dry eye management.

The treatment is safe, gentle, and is backed by more than 20 clinical studies.

OptiLIGHT uses precise pulses of light to reduce the inflammation that is typically associated with dry eye disease, improve tear break-up time, and increase meibomian gland functionality.

OptiPLUS is an FDA-cleared device that uses dual-frequency radiofrequency (RF) technology to target a common cause of dry eye: meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).

OptiPLUS works by gently heating tissue around your eyes. This heat can increase blood flow, improve collagen production, and help melt hardened oil in the meibomian glands. These glands produce the oil layer in your tears, which is essential for preventing tear evaporation and keeping your eyes comfortable.

OptiPLUS may help you:

  • Reduce dry eye symptoms like stinging and irritation
  • Improve tear quality and stability
  • Enjoy clearer vision

triLift by Lumenis is a new facial muscle treatment that helps stimulate the muscles, tighten the skin, and increase volume all in one treatment. By restoring healthy muscle tone with electrical stimulation, triLift can help revitalize the face’s structure, contour, and texture.

triLift implements 3 complementary technologies—dynamic muscle stimulation (DMSt), TriPollar radiofrequency (RF), and ultrathin RF microneedling—all in one system.

Photobiomodulation (Low-Level Light Therapy) by MD Elite is a noninvasive treatment designed to address dry eye and enhance the appearance of the area around the eyes. Using targeted low-level light, it helps stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and support healing.

This therapy is effective for conditions such as meibomian gland dysfunction and ocular irritation, promoting improved tear production, eye comfort, and refreshed aesthetics.

Meibography is a specialized imaging technology that allows us to assess the health of your meibomian glands—the tiny glands in your eyelids responsible for producing the protective oils in your tears. If these glands become blocked or damaged, it can lead to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), a leading cause of dry eye disease.

We use meibography to get a detailed view of your meibomian glands, helping us diagnose dry eye at its source and create targeted treatment plans. By analyzing gland health early, we can recommend effective therapies to restore comfort and protect long-term eye health.
