Eye Diseases & Conditions We Manage

Our goal is to not only help our patients manage, but also understand the different forms and signs of eye disease. Through our technology, we can detect and manage various ocular diseases and conditions.

Eye disease management is an ongoing process, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that cause progressive damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerve plays a vital role in our vision and carries the information the retina receives to your brain so you can see. If this is interrupted, vision loss can occur.

Some common signs and symptoms of glaucoma can include:

  • Blurred vision
  • Patchy blind spots in peripheral or central vision
  • Eye redness
  • Halos around lights
  • Severe headaches

For more information on glaucoma—including our diagnostic methods—please visit our glaucoma eye exams page.

Cataracts naturally develop when the normally clear lens of the eye becomes clouded. Cataracts begin forming when proteins in the eye form clumps that prevent the lens from sending clear images to the retina.

Common signs and symptoms of cataracts may include:

  • Fading or yellowing of colors
  • Increasing difficulty driving at night
  • Sensitivity to light and glare
  • Clouded, blurred, or dim vision

AMD is a progressive age-related vision condition that affects central vision and damages the macula. AMD is a leading cause of vision loss among older adults.

There are 2 main types of AMD to look out for:

  • Dry AMD is the more common form of the disease and occurs in early, intermediate, and late stages. Dry AMD more commonly progresses slowly over time.
  • Wet AMD is the less common form of the disease and is known as the later-stage form of AMD. Wet AMD causes faster and more severe vision loss and occurs when abnormal blood vessels grow in the back of the eye and damage the macula.

Early detection and lifestyle choices such as a healthier diet or increased physical activity can help lower the risk or slow the development of AMD. Our team will thoroughly examine your eyes and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Diabetes can affect not only your blood sugar, but your vision as well. Diabetes can increase your risk of developing eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetic retinopathy is a significant concern for those with diabetes and can lead to vision loss.

Signs and symptoms of diabetic retinopathy can include:

  • A loss of central vision
  • Blurry vision
  • Difficulty seeing and driving at night
